I’ve been thinking for a while about the great value of plants in filling spaces after Christmas decorations and taking advantage of the moment to follow interior design trends. Many of us take advantage of this moment, the change of year, to renew our present. So I think this is the ideal time to offer your customers plants that bring both an aesthetic change and benefits to the home.

The search for a balance of energies is present in philosophies such as Feng Shui, where the conscious and harmonious occupation of spaces is very important for maintaining the positive energy of the people occupying a space. Plants are part of this energy.

I’m going to mention a few ranges that we produce at Rachel’s, although I assure you that any plant you like will suffice for the energetic change of a person who loves plants.

Firstly, I’d like to highlight the assorted Dracaenas, Ficus and Yuccas as ‘Wellness Plants’.  I’ve often talked about them, but I insist. These are low-maintenance plants that are not only visually appealing, but also part of the growing trend towards biophilic landscaping. This concept, which is very much in vogue in 2024, aims to integrate nature into interior spaces in order to improve air quality and reduce stress, which is what many people want at the start of a new year.

I’d also like to highlight the wide availability of formats for these varieties, which can be easily adapted to each customer’s personal space.

Another option that I find very interesting, and whose sales have increased this year, are plants with a minimalist, less dense aesthetic, such as Kentias or Arecas. They make for lighter, less busy, more ‘airy’ decorations. A touch of exoticism and elegance without overloading, which is very interesting for a decorator. What’s more, the ceramic and terracotta pots you can offer in your point of sale will personalise the atmosphere for your customers.

Finally, given my enthusiasm for energy, January is the ideal time to offer plants associated with luck, growth and protection. Schefflera springs to mind. It’s well known that it’s often used at the entrance to houses to protect them from dense or unfavourable energies. Although this is a very traditional crop in Almeria, at Rachel’s we want to emphasise this quality, as customers may be attracted by its positive symbolism, aligned with the desire for renewal in the New Year.

Starting the year with plants that bring life and positive energy to interior spaces is a great way to meet customer demand. Many plants provide a minimalist aesthetic and feel-good effect that fits perfectly with current trends and helps customers transform their homes into a green, revitalising oasis for the year ahead.

I hope these recommendations will inspire your customers to give their spaces a new look, and that they’ll find your outlet an ally in starting 2025 on the right foot. For my part, all that remains is to wish you all a happy new year.
