With the end of Christmas, the reign of the ubiquitous houseplant poinsettia comes to an end. Many of the poinsettias you have purchased will have lost their vigour and bracts, and with them all their charm. Now is the time to offer your customers other alternatives to decorate and enliven their homes, such as these five beautiful green indoor plants that are available all year round in the Rachel&Co catalogue.

A very professional and effective way to recommend plants to your garden center clients is to first get to know a little about the style of furnishing and interior design of their home and, depending on their response, to recommend one type of plant or another.

These five plants in particular are large-leafed, highly decorative plants that will look good in any  corner of the house, especially in homes decorated with a Nordic and minimalist style.

Crotón:

At Rachel&Co we have multiple varieties such as Croton Iceton, Croton Mamey, Croton Petra and Croton Pictrum in pot sizes ranging from a 17 pot for the smallest to a 40 pot for the largest. Some of these are -mother plants-, perfect for customers who want a more mature plant with more wood and a much larger size.

You can buy these plants in shelves or complete trolleys. As a guide, each tier can contain 8 Croton Petra plants in a 35 cm pot – mother plant or 21 Croton Mamey plants in a 20 cm pot. Of course, the trolleys can always be combined with shelves of different varieties.

At RachelCo we make it easy for you!

2. Sansevieria (Mother-in-law´s tongue or St. George´s sword)

The Sansevieria is a very hardy plant for both temperate and colder climates. Its adaptability to both shady and sunny areas, as well as its ease of care, make it a very popular plant for beginners, but also for plant lovers for its special foliage. It takes up very little space and remains trendy in minimalist or Nordic decorations.

At Rachel&Co you will find many varieties: Laurenti and Futura almost all year round, but other very showy varieties appear during the year: Zeilanica, Black Jade, Black Diamond, Canary, Gold Flame, Hanny and Night Shade. We produce them in different pot sizes: 12, 14, 17, 20, 23, 25 and 30.

It is essential to have them in your garden centre!

3. Philodendro (Philodendron)

The Philodendron is one of the most unusual houseplants. Very popular for its large green leaves with reddish or greyish tones depending on the variety and their very different shapes: heart-shaped, torn, spiky… At Rachel&Co you will find the Philodendron Congo, the Philodendron Green Princess, the Philodendron Imperial Red, the Philodendron Millions, the Philodendron Royal Queen, the Philodendron Selloum, etc.

In our catalogue, you will find this plant in a climbing version (from 60-75cm) or as a shrub.

4. Pothos (Epipremmum aureum)

Pothos is one of the most popular houseplants in Spain. When a customer asks you for advice on buying a plant of this type, don´t hesitate: the pothos is sure to please, as it is very resistant, easy to care for and, what´s more, it purifies the air in any home or office.

The Rachel&Co catalogue currently offers a wide range of sizes in canes from 60 cm to 1.50 m. The C22 pot has a height of 1.20 metres.

I would also like to remind you that we work with hanging Pothos, which is a staple in any retail outlet. The C10.5 and C15 pots are the most common formats, but if you are trying to offer your customers larger formats, we also offer the production of C20, C23 pots…

I would finally highlight the colour and lushness as well as the finish of the plant.

I assure you that your customers will take them out of your hands!

5. Pachira

And the last houseplant I want to recommend in this article is the fabulous Pachira, also called guava chestnut, a more exclusive species than the previous ones, but with characteristics that make it ideal for home decoration.

Its main characteristic is its braided trunk, which in itself attracts the attention of all those who are looking for a plant to decorate their home, as well as its large, green and shiny leaves.

Pachiras are sold at a higher price than the other plants mentioned in this article, but this is not a problem for the garden centre customer who appreciates the craftsmanship behind each of these natural monuments. Braiding and guiding the plants to achieve the spiral column effect is a process reserved for the most experienced nurserymen. Like those who work for Rachel&Co.
